Before I start my woeful stories, I have to tell you that it isn’t exactly what I call hate when it comes to Traveling. I haven’t learnt a better and a more passionate word for that yet. So lets call it “beep”. Yet, as Dr. Murphy says, I somehow get into what I “beep” the most even with utmost care to stay away from it. Every time I post something related to Travel here, I think “I’m pretty sure this fella is gonna be the last one here”. Enter Dr. Murphy. So here goes the story of my trip to Bheemeshwari with my teammates on Friday (19 September).
The 19 guys from the ITG (Interface Technology Group, that’s what my team is called) assembled at the plaza outside the main building and gathered the all important component for traveling – food. The minibus left for Bheemeshwari at around 08:45 (IST, for some), which is about a 100 kilometers from Bangalore (India, for those), and soon got mixed up the traffic. As my regular routine in travel goes, I “passed out” after the breakfast. I woke up at around 11 and was invited by some latest English songs, viz. ABBA. Trying to enjoy the occasional scenery and the occasional boy bands, we plodded to the resort at 12.
As per the plan we had a gulp of lemonade and started for the trek to the nearest hill. This trek finished before we realized, but I got damn tired nevertheless. Suitably, I had a black shirt on and the temperature then could have make Chennai envy. I realized that I had had my quota of exercise for the rest of the decade and rested on the hilltop for about half an hour. After this, we came down via a less serpentine route and returned to the base camp to have a huge tender coconut.
Lunch was ready by now and we were quick to get our hands into the same. It was a decent lunch and I am not fit to critique food ever. This was immediately followed by a boat trip whose only high point was a fleeting view of an undernourished crocodile (more like an obese lizard). We came out of the lake drier than ever and got onto a open truck that took us back to the base again. This was really a joy ride and the ambience was close to a safari trip.
The best part followed at the base camp in which we rested on a huge net tied amidst the trees. This was the most relaxing session of an otherwise hectic day .We were thoroughly reluctant to move from the place, but it was time for Tea. Bajji was served and more talking went on at the tea table. I was non-participatory and the only work I did there was counting the number of people seated around the long table. There were 12 guys and I was (whaddayaknow) Juror No. #8. We could have relaxed there the whole day but the schedule was tight (“I’m just saying it’s possible”). We left the camp at around 6 PM.
The bus started and I was quick to get back to my activity – sleeping. I woke up around 7:30 to the irritating title tune of the new film “C Kkompany” (or something similar with a few more K’s). The film thankfully ended soon and we were back into the lovely traffic jams in no time. The driver was smart enough to take a few routes and cut down on time. We returned to the company at 9PM and a treat at Jalsa, Marathalli was to follow. I had to return home though and took the 9:30 bus back home. I was glad to jump onto a static bed.
haha!
